Most of my students have been with me for a number of years, continuing on from KS1 and KS2 through to secondary school and right up to GCSEs in year 11. Parents are more than happy to discuss my tutoring with you - let me know if you'd like to make contact with any of them. Click on one of the thmbnails to enlarge... (most recent first)
Below are earlier comments I received before I started using the "Parent Feedback" forms. Hassocks - Jan 2010 I did want to say thank you ever so much for your help with my son's English. He seemed to enjoy your sessions together and am sure he picked up some useful lessons from you. My wife and I are extremely grateful to you for your efforts. I was impressed by your lesson planning, structure and reviews, and how you held my son's attention and respect. He really did make efforts at his homework for you (what's your secret?!). I will certainly send a reference to the tutoring web-site for you, and recommend you to anyone who may ask about tutoring in English. Brighton - April 2010 We wanted someone to keep up our 9 year old son's interest in Literacy as he was beginning to lose motivation at school. We were really chuffed with how the first session went. He had been determined not to enjoy it, but actually really did love it. "The time went really quickly" he said afterwards. mother of a Year 4 pupil in Brighton
Haywards Heath - May 2010 Our 6 year old son is a "gifted" mathematician and was getting bored at school. We opted for private tutoring in the hope that it would re-enthuse him and it certainly has! Barrie provides a wide range of well prepared and well presented tasks that challenge him at just the right level, and at the same time, keep his interest up and make maths fun again. - mother of a Year 2 pupil in Haywards Heath
Burgess Hill - May 2010 My 6 year old daughter was starting to lose confidence and needed a bit of a booster, especially with her writing. mother of a Year 2 pupil in Burgess Hill
Hove - Jun 2010 We wanted help for our daughter with her maths. She is good at maths but was starting to lose confidence and the school wasn't able to help. mother of a Year 4 pupil in Hove
Wivelsfield - July 2010 We needed someone to get our son focussed back on learning. He's a bright boy but was getting distracted at school. Barrie is keeping his interest alive and getting him to focus again. He loves the sessions, talks about them for ages afterwards, and is making great improvements - improvements that his teacher has also commented on, especially about his handwriting. mother of a Year 4 pupil in Burgess Hill
