Feedback

Most of my students have been with me for a number of years, continuing on from KS1 and KS2 through to secondary school and right up to GCSEs in year 11.

Parents are more than happy to discuss my tutoring with you - let me know if you'd like to make contact with any of them.

Below are earlier comments I received before I started using the "Parent Feedback" forms.

Hassocks - Jan 2010

I did want to say thank you ever so much for your help with my son's English. He seemed to enjoy your sessions together and am sure he picked up some useful lessons from you. My wife and I are extremely grateful to you for your efforts. I was impressed by your lesson planning, structure and reviews, and how you held my son's attention and respect. He really did make efforts at his homework for you (what's your secret?!). I will certainly send a reference to the tutoring web-site for you, and recommend you to anyone who may ask about tutoring in English.

March 2010 - Just to let you know that has been offered a place at Christs Hospital school and will be taking it! Thank you very much for your help. We did appreciate your efforts.

Brighton - April 2010

We wanted someone to keep up our 9 year old son's interest in Literacy as he was beginning to lose motivation at school.  We were really chuffed with how the first session went. He had been determined not to enjoy it, but actually really did love it. "The time went really quickly" he said afterwards.
The sessions have now become something our son looks forward to and he always gives great feedback afterwards.

Haywards Heath - May 2010

Our 6 year old son is a "gifted" mathematician and was getting bored at school.  We opted for private tutoring in the hope that it would re-enthuse him and it certainly has!  Barrie provides a wide range of well prepared and well presented tasks that challenge him at just the right level, and at the same time, keep his interest up and make maths fun again.
Barrie relates really well to our son, and the sessions have become a real highlight of his week.

Burgess Hill - May 2010

My 6 year old daughter was starting to lose confidence and needed a bit of a booster, especially with her writing.
She loved the sessions with Barrie, and really looked forward to them every week. She'd ask all weekend how many days until he comes, which is a good sign!
He really made the sessions fun for her and she didn't see it as "work" at all.

Hove - Jun 2010

We wanted help for our daughter with her maths.  She is good at maths but was starting to lose confidence and the school wasn't able to help.
We'd used another tutor but this wasn't working and our daughter was getting bored with the sessions, so we tried Barrie.  It's made a huge difference.  She looks forward to his coming each week and her confidence is already growing.  Plenty of varied activities in mumeracy and literacy, and he's really flexible in his approach.

Wivelsfield - July 2010

We needed someone to get our son focussed back on learning.  He's a bright boy but was getting distracted at school.  Barrie is keeping his interest alive and getting him to focus again.  He loves the sessions, talks about them for ages afterwards, and is making great improvements - improvements that his teacher has also commented on, especially about his handwriting.
